Unable to abate its fervent spirit to challenge untouched regions, Transindo is now looking towards the Arctic Circle, where the history of adventure and romance are still alive.

Recently, it is said that global warming is affecting the ice in the Arctic Ocean considerably, causing it to begin to melt. As a result, ships with reinforced structures to prevent damage from ice can now travel some parts of the ocean in the summer without an icebreaker escort. This situation has raised interest from around the world regarding the development of a new shipping lane through the Arctic Ocean. Meanwhile, there are said to be troves of underground resources in the coastal areas of countries facing the Arctic Ocean, such as Russia, Norway, the United States (Alaska) and Canada. Considering this, it is believed that the demand for transporting materials required to develop these areas for harvesting the resources and then transporting the resources out to markets will grow in the near future. Transindo has been anticipating this kind of environmental change in the Arctic region since 2008, steadily investigating exploration of the area. Following a number of meetings with related organizations in each coastal country, it was decided to develop a route for transporting machinery and materials to the coastal areas and delivering the resources harvested to the Far East such as Japan, initially doing so on a limited scale.

This is but one gem in our treasure chest of concepts for future business, expressing our sincere desire to further develop business in the Arctic from now on. We will continue to increase our cooperation with local transportation companies who have interests in the Arctic region and cultivate long-lasting partnerships with people related to our business. By maintaining such precious partnerships, Transindo continues to complete each project it receives, expecting the day when the seeds of passion we have sown in fields of the future mature and come to fruition.
